When it came time to launch Flatten Your Curve – a beautifully designed book about stabilising blood glucose through science-backed nutrition and 85+ recipes – the client needed promotional images. But instead of simply organising a photoshoot, I proposed something more meaningful: a low-fuss, high-impact launch event.

The concept was simple – create a warm, welcoming lunch featuring recipes from the book, shared around a beautifully styled table with real people. This created an opportunity to photograph the book in context: surrounded by laughter, conversation, and the kind of food that brings people together.

People often associate low-sugar or dietary-specific eating with isolation – something that sets them apart. My goal was to challenge that idea by creating an experience that felt inclusive, joyful, and relaxed. By showing people how delicious and communal this way of eating can be, the event perfectly embodied the heart of the book.

We captured:

  • Candid moments of guests enjoying food and conversation

  • Beautiful, styled shots of the book and recipes in action

  • Photos of the author with the book, food and guests

  • A genuine atmosphere of connection, learning, and celebration

Guests left feeling nourished and inspired, and the resulting images have been used across the client’s marketing with great effect. It wasn’t just a book launch – it was a living example of what the book stands for.
