How Systems Save Sanity: Why I Believe in Automating the Boring Stuff

When people think about running an event or a brand, they usually picture the fun parts – the creative brainstorms, the launch parties, the styled shoots. And yes, those moments are incredible! But what really makes a project successful isn't just creativity – it's consistency behind the scenes.

That's where smart systems come in.
And honestly? They’re the reason I still love what I do.

Where It All Started

I first truly fell in love with systems during my work with the Janine Tait Group. Their therapist onboarding process was labour-intensive, with so many manual touchpoints it felt like a full-time job in itself. It wasn’t that it was being done badly, it’s just that it was all-consuming.

Using a combination of Zapier, Trello, Thinkific, Google Sheets and Outlook, I created a fully automated onboarding system that made it easy for clinics to join, stay informed, and feel supported, all while freeing up precious time for the team to focus on bigger-picture work.

The feedback was overwhelmingly positive.
The team often hears how simple and professional the onboarding feels – and best of all, they barely have to think about it anymore.

The same kind of system changed the game for the Bay of Plenty Garden and Art Festival too, helping hundreds of artists, gardeners, and vendors onboard seamlessly, without endless back-and-forth emails.

Why Systems Matter

Here’s the thing: it's not about replacing human touchpoints. It’s about elevating them.

Smart systems do the heavy lifting so your team can show up where it really matters. In the meaningful conversations, the creative spaces, the strategic moments.

The right automations mean:

  • Your clients and customers feel cared for.

  • Your internal team feels less overwhelmed.

  • You can scale your work without sacrificing quality.

And honestly, it saves your sanity.

What Can You Automate?

It’s not just onboarding.
Systems can simplify so many parts of your business or event:

  • Lead capture and follow-up emails

  • Client intake processes

  • Workshop or event registration

  • Reminder emails for attendees or vendors

  • Content approvals and internal task tracking

  • Customer updates, FAQs, and resource sharing

If there’s a part of your workflow that feels repetitive, heavy, or messy – chances are, we can build a system that handles it.

Good systems are like the unsung heroes behind every smooth event, brand, and business.
They’re not glamorous, but they are essential.

If you’re feeling stretched thin or just want to spend more time doing what you love, maybe it’s time to stop battling the boring stuff – and start automating it instead.
